Tree House - an eco-house from straw and sheeps wool
Tree House is an eco-house (built by Eco-Fab and ARCO2 from Bodmin, Cornwall in 2008), on the site of the old village farm. The walls are box-encased straw bale, and the floors/ceilings are box-encased sheep's wool, all held together within a wooden frame. It is reverse-level with the whole upstairs being the ultra light and warm main room. Downstairs there are three double bedrooms and two shower/bathrooms.
The house is on the 'Mary' earth-energy line, as documented in the book 'The Sun and the Serpent' by Hamish Miller and Paul Broadhurst. The energy of 'Mary', unlike Michael's powerfully invigorating energy, is gentle, supportive, encouraging, and many people love to just 'be' at Tree House and soak up the atmosphere.
The stones making up the stone circle were already on the land and are lintels from the old village church which used to be next door, but which was demolished in the 1970's. The circle was built during 2012.
In 2014 the labyrinth (in the 11 circuit Chartres Cathedral design) was built on the land, using nothing but the stone which came out of the 50' square levelled patch and a heap of happy dusty effort during the sunny summer.
The Mary Michael Pilgrims Way - from Carn Les Boel at the westernmost tip of Cornwall, to Hopton in Norfolk - passes next to Tree House's land, and walkers are welcome (with prior booking) to camp on the land here.
